Two referendums on the Brighton Marina Neighbourhood Plan will be held on Thursday 13 February 2025
- one residential referendum, for residents in Brighton Marina
- one business referendum, for businesses in Brighton Marina
Who can vote
Residential referendum
To vote in the residential referendum you must be:
- registered to vote by Tuesday 28 January
- a resident of the Brighton Marina referendum area or a registered Crown servant or service elector in respect of an address in the referendum area
- aged 18 or over on polling day
Business referendum
To vote in the business referendum:
- the business vote holder must be a non-domestic ratepayer for a hereditament in the Brighton Marina referendum area
- the business vote holder must have registered a named voter on the business register by 5pm on Wednesday 29 January (Form A)
- we must have received the Voting Choices Form completed by the named voter by 5pm on Wednesday 29 January (Form B)
Eligible ratepayers are being contacted throughout the referendum timetable. If you believe you are an eligible ratepayer and you have not been contacted by Thursday 9 January, send an email to electors@brighton-hove.gov.uk
How to vote
Poll opening times are 7am to 10pm. The polling station is the Estate Office Board Room, Brighton Marina, BN2 5UF.
Residential referendum
You need to bring an accepted form of photo ID to vote at the polling station

Business referendum
The named voter must indicate their voting method in their Voting Choices Form (Form B). We must have received this by 5pm on Wednesday 29 January.
You do not need photo ID to vote in the polling station or by post.

Residential referendum
- Tuesday 28 January – last day to register to vote
- Wednesday 29 January, 5pm – last day for us to receive your postal vote application
- Wednesday 29 January, 5pm – last day to cancel your postal vote
- Wednesday 29 January, 5pm – last day for us to receive proxy applications if you, or your proxy, already have a postal vote in place
- Friday 31 January - postal votes dispatched
- Wednesday 5 February, 5pm – the last day for us to receive any other proxy vote applications
- Wednesday 5 February, 5pm – last day for us to receive your Voter Authority Certificate application
- Friday 7 February – first day to reissue replacement postal votes
- Thursday 13 February – polls open from 7am to 10pm
- Friday 14 February – ballot papers counted
Business referendum
- Wednesday 29 January, 5pm – last day for us to receive your registration form (Form A)
- Wednesday 29 January, 5pm – last day for us to receive your Voting Choices Form (Form B)
- Wednesday 29 January, 5pm – last day to change your named voter
- Friday 31 January - postal votes dispatched
- Friday 7 February – first day to reissue replacement postal votes
- Thursday 13 February – polls open from 7am to 10pm
- Friday 14 February – ballot papers counted
