Help for rough sleepers

We are providing accommodation for rough sleepers in the city during the COVID-19 pandemic, working with our Street Outreach Service and community partners.

It is taking time to find enough accommodation for all in need. We are prioritising people based on the most urgent situations first and then reaching wider.

How you can help

If you meet someone who is rough sleeping and in need of accommodation, please share the details with Street Link so the information can be passed on to outreach workers.

Please do NOT direct people to come to the council’s customer service centre as these are currently closed.

If you meet someone rough sleeping who is symptomatic and in need of immediate accommodation we need to know right away.

Phone 01273 294 400 (between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday) and ask to be put through to the duty manager.

Or phone 01273 294 400 or 01273 295 555 (between 5pm and 9am and on weekends) with a request to speak with the duty Homeless Persons Officer.

Repairs work is continuing through the current national restrictions. We were already facing a significant backlog due to the impact of the pandemics and unfortunately this means there will be delays in attending to your repairs.

We are currently prioritising repairs according to urgency, that have a significant impact on residents or are likely to cause further damage to properties.

We’re recruiting more staff to help us catch up. It’s likely to be a few months before we’re back on track, so please bear with us.

If your repair is not an emergency, please use our online repairs reporting form. We’ll advise you of the job number and will contact you to arrange your repair as soon as we can. If your repair becomes more urgent, please call us and we will update your repair priority.

If your repair is an emergency, please call us on 0800 052 6140. This number is available for emergency repairs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
