Shoreham Harbour Regeneration
Shoreham Harbour Regeneration is a partnership of Brighton & Hove City Council, Adur & Worthing Council, West Sussex County Council and Shoreham Port Authority. The partnership is working on a joint project and has prepared a Joint Area Action Plan (JAAP) to facilitate the regeneration of Shoreham Harbour and surrounding areas.
Shoreham Harbour Joint Area Action Plan (JAAP)
The Shoreham Harbour JAAP is a key planning document and forms part of the development plan for Brighton & Hove and Adur. It provides the framework and guidelines for developers and clarifies the land to be regenerated, as well as what kind of development is acceptable in the area.
The Shoreham Harbour JAAP was the subject of an independent examination conducted by Anne Napier MRTPI, a Planning Inspector appointed by the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government. The examination included public hearing sessions on 19 and 20 September 2018. The Inspector’s report was issued on 7 August 2019. It concludes that the Local Plan is legally compliant and, with recommended main modifications, the Plan is sound.
The Shoreham Harbour JAAP, incorporating main modifications, was formally adopted by Brighton & Hove City Council on 24 October 2019 and has also been formally adopted by West Sussex County Council and Adur & Worthing District Council. The adopted JAAP, Monitoring Framework and Notice of Adoption can be found on the Development Plan page.
