Transforming Cities Fund
Greater Brighton Area Bid
The Department for Transport (DfT) launched a Call for Proposals for the Transforming Cities Fund, part of the Industrial Strategy, in March 2018, with a submission deadline of 8 June 2018 for Phase 1.
Up to £840million is available over the four year period to 2021-22 and the funding is entirely capital. The fund is available for non-mayoral city regions in England. The aim of the fund is to improve productivity and spread prosperity through investment in public and sustainable transport in some of the largest English city regions.
Brighton & Hove City Council led a response to the call for proposals for the Greater Brighton area, with the bid area covering Adur, Worthing, Brighton & Hove and the Newhaven area (Newhaven, Seaford, Peacehaven) and focusing on the need for improvements to key intra-city commuter corridors.

In late September 2018, the Department for Transport announced the successful non-mayoral city regions for the Transforming Cities Fund (TCF). Unfortunately the Greater Brighton area was not one of the successful city regions.
