How to take part in the central Brighton Meerkat Trail

How to take part in the Brighton Meerkat Trail

There are nine Meerkats hiding around the streets of central Brighton. Your mission is to try and find them all! Here is all the information you need to take part:

The Meerkat Trail is running from Tuesday 1 October to Sunday 1 December 2019.

Booklet and map of Meerkat locations

You will need to a copy of the Meerkat Discovery Trail booklet [PDF 9.6MB] and map which shows all of the Meerkat locations. Download or print out the booklet. The map on pages 6-7 shows you where you can find the Meerkats.

You can also pick up a copy of the booklet from Jubilee Library (Children’s Library), during normal opening hours. The library is open seven days a week, with later opening (until 7pm) on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Opening times - when you can see the Meerkats and collect stickers

Take a look at the opening times to check when the Meerkat locations are open and find out when you can see the Meerkats and collect stickers.

Travelling to the Meerkat Trail

You can start the trail at any of the Meerkats, and find them in any order you want to. Just decide where you are going to start the trail, and then plan your journey . The whole trail is easily accessible by public transport.

Collect stickers

You can collect stickers at some of the locations and stick them on page 9 in your Meerkat Trail booklet. Not all of the locations have stickers to give out, but you can draw a smiley face in the circles on p.9 for those ones. If one the sticker locations is closed, you can collect an extra sticker from the next location.

There is also a prize-draw with a chance to win a micro-scooter, theatre tickets or a goody bag. To take part, you need to do the trail and find out what each of the nine Meerkats is holding. Write down the answers on the prize-draw entry form on the back of the booklet, or print one out. Return the entry form to us by 31 December to be entered into the prize-draw. Further details about how to enter are on the entry form.

Now put on your walking shoes, catch the bus or train or jump on your scooter or bike, and start the search!
