Recovery of road markings within the Zone M Controlled Parking Scheme
Work to recover the existing road markings in Zone M will begin on Monday 20th May 2019 – the schedule of works will run for approximately six weeks.
Please see the lining schedule document ( PDF 2MB ) for the dates on which the work will take place within specific roads.
Advanced notices and cones are placed on street 48 hours before work begins.
Please note lining work is subject to weather conditions - rain or other adverse conditions may cause a delay.
Road markings serve a very important function in conveying to road users information and requirements – as such, the council has an obligation to maintain road markings on the network to assist in continued clarity for all road users and to ensure enforcement of on street parking restrictions can be carried out consistently.
Maintenance programmes within controlled parking areas are carried out zonally and whilst it is acknowledged that some road markings degrade to varying degrees from ‘street to street’ – on a practical level once a zone is completed, it will generally not require re-visiting for a number of years aside from minor remedial works.
In terms of value for money, it is beneficial in the long run to complete the zone in full as this avoids additional contractor costs that a reactive approach would incur. Zone M was previously re-lined in full during May 2012.
Please move vehicles, where possible, to nearby streets before the scheduled work begins. We will only relocate vehicles as a last resort - If a vehicle is relocated, it will be moved to a nearby or adjacent road as close as possible to the original location. No penalty charge or fines are issued in the event of a vehicle being relocated.
Sussex Police will be made aware of all vehicle relocations associated with these works.
If your vehicle is moved and you are unsure where it is, please call: 0345 603 5469
If you have specific questions, please direct them to the Parking Infrastructure Team: firstname.lastname@example.org
The council apologises for any inconvenience caused during this works programme and thanks you in advance for your co-operation.
