The Communities Co-ordinator works in partnership with, and supports, community groups and organisations working on topics which build community cohesion and help to counter extremism.
This can include support for groups who are working to tackle hatred, hate, prejudice and discrimination; working to promote cohesion and sense of belonging in the community; working to promote civic participation; building community resilience; and challenging extremist views and beliefs.
The support could include help to find funding, help with communications, or working on campaigns.
The Building a Stronger Britain Together programme offers support to community groups working to counter extremism, via a bidding process. The programme is currently open to applications for in-kind support with communications. Visit www.gov.uk/guidance/building-a-stronger-britain-together to find out more. Groups looking to apply for support are advised to contact the Communities Coordinator in the first instance.
