Renewal of vows ceremonies

Who are these ceremonies for?

These ceremonies are for any couple, wishing to renew their marriage vows or civil partnership commitment. For example:

  • the ceremony could be a celebration of a special anniversary.
  • if you were married or registered your civil partnership abroad, this gives you an opportunity to renew your vows in a ceremony with family and friends who were unable to travel
  • or if there has been a period of strain in your relationship, this is an opportunity to celebrate your renewed commitment to each other

What does a ceremony contain?

These tailor made ceremonies are specifically created for you and the format could incorporate the following

  • introduction and welcome
  • acknowledgement of any children of the marriage/civil partnership
  • readings/poems
  • renewal of vows
  • rededication of ring(s)
  • giving of new ring(s) or gift(s)
  • words from previous ceremony guest(s)
  • signing of certificate
  • closing words

How long is the ceremony?

The ceremony lasts approximately 15-30 minutes.

Where can the ceremony be held?

Ceremonies are currently being held at Brighton Town Hall, approved venues and by special arrangement can be held at other venues such as private homes and gardens.
