Cancelling your ceremony

This applies to all Marriages, Civil Partnerships, Conversion, Renewal of Vows, Naming and Commitment ceremonies.

Should you wish to cancel or postpone your ceremony the following conditions apply

  •  Ceremonies taking place at Brighton Town Hall or an Approved Venue on or after 16 February 2019 (before 1 April 2019) - if 4 weeks’ notice is given, your fee will be refunded, less £128 administration fee
  •  Ceremonies taking place at Brighton Town Hall or an Approved Venue on or after 1 April 2019 – if 4 weeks’ notice is given, your fee will be refunded, less £130 administration fee
  •  Ceremonies taking place in the Register Office – this fee is non-refundable
  •  Ceremonies taking place at religious venues – this fee is non-refundable

 You will not be entitled to a refund if you fail to notify the office of a cancellation or fail to attend a ceremony

 If less than 4 weeks’ notice is given no part of the fee is refundable

Amending your ceremony date

This applies to all Marriages, Civil Partnerships, Conversion, Renewal of Vows, Naming and Commitment ceremonies.

Should you wish to reschedule or postpone your ceremony the following conditions apply:-

 If you wish to change the date of your ceremony a fee of £35 will be charged for each alteration made

Cancelling or amending your appointment:

This applies to all Notice of Marriage, Notice of Civil Partnerships and Conversion appointments.

Should you wish to cancel, reschedule or postpone your appointment the following conditions apply:-

 No refund is given is less than 5 working days’ notice of cancellation is received

 No refund is given for failure to attend the appointment

 No refund is given if the wrong documents are produced, we will reschedule your appointment and charge the full amount again

This applies to European Passport Return Service:-

 No refund is given if notice of cancellation is received

 No refund is given for failure to attend the appointment

 No refund is given if the wrong documents are produced, we will reschedule your appointment and charge the full amount again

 If you wish to reschedule your appointment, you will be charged the full amount again
