Reading groups

Brighton & Hove City Library reading groups cost individuals £5 a year to join. Reading groups take place at several of the city’s libraries. We can also help you set up a reading group of your own and the cost for private reading groups is £30 a year collectively.

Reading groups at libraries

Jubilee Library reading groups

There are five reading groups at Jubilee library; four general fiction groups, and a sci-fi and fantasy group.

To find out if there are any places available in any of the groups please email BookGroupsLibraries@brighton-hove.gov.uk or call 01273 290800. The groups meet on Tuesday evenings, Thursday evenings, Saturday mornings.

Hove Library 
reading groups

There are five reading groups at Hove library.

To find out if there are any places available in any of the groups please email BookGroupsLibraries@brighton-hove.gov.uk or call 01273 290800. The groups meet on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings and Saturday lunchtimes.

Reading groups at community libraries

  • Hangleton Library reading group meets on the last Saturday of each month at 11am - This is a Libraries Extra day
  • Moulsecoomb Library reading group meets on the third Tuesday of each month 6pm This is a Libraries Extra day​
  • Patcham Library reading group 
meets on the first Friday of each month at 11am
  • Portslade Library reading group meets on the second Saturday of the month at 10.30am​
  • Rottingdean Library reading group meets on the first Thursday of each month at 11am This is a Libraries Extra day
  • Westdene Library reading group meets on the third Monday of the month at 5.30pm This is a Libraries Extra day
  • Woodingdean Library 
reading group meets on the third Thursday of the month at 2pm
