Apprenticeship vacancies at the council

All apprenticeships vacancies at Brighton & Hove City Council are advertised on our jobs page and also the Find an Apprenticeship Service. When you find a job you would like to apply for, download the job details at the bottom of the advert. This includes the person specification and job description. You will need this to complete the application. As you go through the application, it will explain what information you need to provide and why. From 1st April 2019

During an apprentice's first year Intermediate Level 2 £6.15 per hour 
£11,865.11 per annum
During an apprentice's first year Advanced or Higher Level 3+ £7.70 per hour
£14,855.50 per annum
Once completed first year   National minimum wage for their age must apply*

*But no less than starting salary

  2. Browse through all of the different apprenticeships and opportunities on offer
  3. Once you have found a job you are interested in, create an account on and submit your application.

An apprenticeship is a real job, you will be competing with other candidates for the position so it is very important to be prepared for the interview; the National Careers Service provides advice, tips and information on applying for apprenticeships and the recruitment process.

Public Sector Apprenticeship target

We have a public sector target around new apprenticeships starts. This target runs from 1 April 2017 to 31 March 2021 and is set at 2.3 per cent of the total number of council employees based on headcount. We are required to report annually on our progress towards this target and have now submitted our second report to the Department for Education covering the period 2018-19.
