Your Energy Sussex & the ECO scheme
Your Energy Sussex
Your Energy Sussex (YES) is an energy saving partnership between local authorities across Sussex. It aims to reduce fuel bills and CO2 emissions for Sussex residents and businesses and has a range of projects across the county, Brighton & Hove City Council is an Affiliate Member of the partnership.
Energy Company Obligation (ECO)
The Energy Company Obligation (ECO) is a government energy efficiency scheme to help reduce carbon emissions and tackle fuel poverty. The scheme began in April 2013, and over time it has been amended. The latest changes to the scheme occurred in 2017, and apply to measures installed from 1 April 2017.
Under ECO, larger energy suppliers fund the installation of energy efficiency measures in households. Each obligated supplier has an overall target based on its share of the domestic energy market in Britain and work with installers to introduce certain efficiency measures into homes, such as loft or wall insulation or heating measures.
Can I benefit from ECO?
In order to benefit from ECO you must own your own home or have the permission of your landlord.
Contact the Energy Saving Advice Service in England (0300 123 1234) if you have questions about the scheme and on whether you are eligible. You can also contact any of the obligated suppliers to find out how they may be able to help you.
