Your rent matters

Your Rent Matters is a new campaign helping to prepare our tenants for the big changes that are happening to rents and benefits.

In November, we’ll be contacting all of our tenants and visiting as many as we can to explain the changes and help people take the necessary steps to make sure they’re prepared.

Council tenants who are working could be affected by Pay to Stay, which could mean they have to pay more rent if you earn over a certain amount. Tenants who claim benefits could be affected by Universal Credit, affecting how much they receive and how they’ll need to pay their rent.

All tenants will be offered an appointment where we’ll be able to advise them if they’re likely to be affected, how to prepare, and what support is available.

If you are a council tenant and are worried about your finances, or the changes that are coming, please contact Housing Customer Services.
