Pavement gritting

During times of severe winter weather our street cleaning staff help to clear snow and ice from pavements across the city. Pavements will be prioritised according to the worse affected areas of the city. This work needs a lot of resources and these pavements can't be done all at once.

The list below shows some of the pavements which our staff work on.


  • A23 (St Peters Church to Aquarium) (both sides of A23, but just the outside edges – not inner pavements)
  • Edward Street (Pavillion Parade to Egremont Place)
  • John Street (Edward Street to Carlton Hill)

  • Eastern Road (Abbey Road to Bristol Gate) (in front of RSCH)
