Apply for a student reduction in Council Tax
Students who qualify for a student discount
If everyone in the household is a full-time student, you will not have to pay Council Tax. You will need to register your student details so we can check you don’t need to pay
If one person in the household is not a full-time student, they would be solely responsible for paying the Council Tax. They could be eligible for a 25% student discount if everyone else is a full-time student
If there are two or more people who aren't full time students, they would be responsible for the full Council Tax
Your discount/exemption will be awarded in line with the course dates provided by your place of study. You will still be liable to pay Council Tax for periods which fall outside of these dates.
