Elections for the Older People’s Council (OPC) are held every four years. The OPC was set up in 2001, to make sure that older people in the city have a say in the services which affect them and the communities in which they live.

The elections were held by all-postal ballot, and residents aged 60 or over were eligible to register to vote.
