Elections for the European Parliament were held on Thursday 22 May 2014
European Parliamentary elections are held every five years in all 28 of the European Union states. The UK is represented by 73 MEPs. Under a system of proportional representation, the UK is divided into 12 regions. There are 10 MEPs for the South East region. All 10 will represent each person resident in the South East.
Results
The turnout for Brighton & Hove was 37.93% - 76,030 verified votes were received from an electorate of 200,433.
The European Parliamentary Elections were coordinated by the South East Regional Returning Officer at Southampton, who announced the results for the region on Monday 26 May. Details for the regional results can be found on news websites such as the BBC's Vote 2014 section.
