Statement of accounts

The Statement of Accounts is the statutory summary of the council's financial affairs for the financial year and is prepared in accordance with the 'Code of Practice on Local Authority Accounting in the United Kingdom'. The purpose of our statement of accounts is to give clear information on the overall finances of the council.

The Statements of Accounts available to download below have been approved by the council's Audit and Standards Committee.

Printed copies can be viewed at Jubilee and Hove libraries. You can also order a printed copy from the council for a £30 charge (to cover the cost of printing). If you wish to order a printed copy, please email our Financial Accounting Team at

Financial Year 2018/19

The council’s approved accounts are published here, as required by the Accounts and Audit Regulations 2015, which stipulate publication by 31 July. 

Please note that, following conclusion of outstanding audit queries in respect of the independent actuary’s valuation of pension fund assets, liabilities and interest income, and the reasonableness of the actuary’s application of rolled forward assumptions, the financial statements approved on 23 July 2019 were subsequently revised and re-approved by the council’s Audit & Standards Committee on 17 September 2019. The audit is now concluded and the revised statements are published here.
