Civil Partnership Ceremonies
Important information, please read - Registration Fee Changes from 1st November 2017
What are Civil Partnership Ceremonies?
Where can the ceremony be held?
Ceremonies can be held in any Register Office and other approved venues.
What happens during a Civil Partnership Ceremony?
Each ceremony is unique to the couple. Working within the ceremony framework and with the Civil Partnership Registrar, we will help you create your own unique celebration by selecting words, poems and readings that hold a special meaning to you.
Do we have to have a ceremony?
The simple answer is no!
Civil partnership registrations may be just a short signing, a small dignified ceremony or (by prior arrangement) an enhanced ceremony with additional vows, readings and music of your choice.
What else is needed?
Couples wishing to take part in a ceremony must be aged 16 or over on the date of application. Anyone under 18 on the date of application must have a consent form signed by a parent or guardian. You may not take part in a Civil Partnership Ceremony if one or both of you are still legally married to or in a civil partnership with another partner. Where a marriage or civil partnership has been dissolved or otherwise ended, evidence of this must be given.
How much does a Civil Partnership ceremony cost?
If you are registering your Civil Partnership in the Regency Room or at one of the other approved venues in Brighton & Hove, it would be helpful if you could fill in the Brighton & Hove online ceremony checklist.
The checklist will be filed with your paperwork and help the Registrar to tailor your ceremony to your wishes.
