Cancellation and refund policy

Cancelling your appointment

The following conditions apply should you wish to cancel or postpone your appointment for entering notice of marriage, civil partnership or to attend a change of name deed or nationality checking service appointment:

  • Giving five working days notice will result in no charge
  • No refund is given if less than five working days notice of cancellation is received
  • No refund is given if an appointment is cancelled on the day of the appointment or for failure to attend the appointment

Amending the date of your ceremony

An amendment fee of £33.00 will be charged for each alteration made to the date of ceremony

Cancelling your ceremony

The following conditions apply should you wish to cancel or postpone your wedding, civil partnership, renewal of vows or naming ceremony.

  • Ceremonies taking place at Brighton Town Hall – total fee will be refunded, less £110 administration fee
  • Ceremonies taking place at approved venues – total fee will be refunded, less £110 administration cost
  • Ceremonies taking place in the Register Office – this fee is non refundable
  • Ceremonies taking place at religious venues – this fee is non refundable
  • You will not be entitled to a refund if you cancel less than 4 weeks before your ceremony
  • You will not be entitled to a refund if you fail to notify the office of a cancellation or fail to attend a ceremony
