My child has an allergy or intolerance

Brighton & Hove City Council works in partnership with Eden Foodservice to enable pupils with allergies and intolerances to enjoy safe and suitable meals. We currently provide special meals that are free from ingredients such as wheat, milk and eggs.

Parents or carers of children who have allergies or intolerances or cultural or religious dietary requirements need to complete and return one of the two forms below.

Please note that for allergies and intolerances (except nut only allergy) a meal will not be provided until the form has been received and the menu agreed.

You can also download and read through our frequently asked questions [PDF 23kb]

Nut allergies

It is our policy that within all nursery and primary schools, nuts or nut derivatives are not used as an ingredient in either kitchen prepared dishes or bought in products. Although it is impossible to guarantee that all our products are 100% nut free, we ensure that our suppliers are directed not to supply products known to contain nuts/peanuts or their derivatives. Parents are asked to complete the form to enable us to contact you quickly, if we were alerted by a supplier that nuts had inadvertently got into the supply chain.

As a modified menu is not provided for a nut only allergy a meal will continue to be provided.

Food allergies or intolerances such as wheat, dairy, eggs

All requests for special diets due to an allergy or intolerance must be supported by a medical referral. If your child has a nut allergy only then a copy of the hospitals letter is sufficient, a GP's signature is not required.

If you are a parent/carer of a child with one or more food allergies or intolerances such as wheat, dairy or eggs or nuts please complete the allergies and intolerance referral form.

Please send the completed form and medical referral to Sasha Green, Eden Foodservice, Riverbank, 1 Meadows Business Park, Camberley, Surrey, GU17 9AB. Or scan and email the form and referral to

Please note that for allergies and intolerances (except nut only allergy) a meal will not be provided until the form has been received and the menu agreed.

Children requiring a religious or cultural diet

Eden Foodservice recognises that there are other special dietary requirements beyond medical requirements. Religious, ethnic or cultural beliefs can be catered for where possible. We do this on a case by case basis and where we have the ability to do so, with support from our nutrition department.

If you are a parent/carer of a child with a special religious or cultural diet, for example Vegan, complete the Cultural & Religious form.

Please send your completed form to Eden Foodservice, South West Suite, Lower Ground Floor, Queens Park Villa, 30 West Drive, Brighton. BN2 0QW. Or scan and email to
