Freedom Of Information - business rates credits

The Council now publishes information about Business Rates accounts that currently have credit balances in response to Freedom Of Information requests.

Credit bill notices have been sent to all ratepayers where credits appear on their accounts.

Limited companies, unlimited companies, public limited companies, government departments, local authorities and other public organisations are the only details included in the credit lists. Personal information has been redacted in accordance with section 40(2) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

This information will be updated and made available on a monthly basis.

Below is the latest list of unclaimed business rates credits.

Brighton & Hove City Council cannot vouch for the ongoing accuracy of the data as accounts are being updated daily. Credits can be a result of changes made on the Rateable Value of a property, business rates overpayments, amendments to the start and end dates to accounts etc. With regards to credits there may be corresponding accounts with debits.

When applying for a refund, you will need to provide documents showing that you were or are the ratepayer, or that you have permission from the ratepayer to act on their behalf.
