Prevent work is delivered in strong partnership with:

  • our local communities
  • the police
  • a range of statutory and third-sector organisations

Work of the Safer Communities Team

The Safer Communities Team in Brighton & Hove City Council has led the delivery of Prevent work since 2009. This is reflected as a priority in the Community Safety Strategy and Action Plan.

Prevent delivery in the city is about reaching the small number of individuals who are susceptible to being drawn into terrorism.

We work to empower our communities and partners to challenge terrorism with an anti-racist approach.

The local response to Prevent is focused on a proportionate risks and threats picture, with clear accountability to local communities, and includes democratic oversight.
