16 Days of Action
The 16 Days of Action for the Elimination of Violence against Women is a global initiative, seeking to galvanize action to end violence against women and girls around the world.
About 16 Days
Over 16 days, a range of agencies, groups and individuals come together to work to end all forms of violence against women. Each year there is a variety of local activities planned.
The 16 Days run from 25 November (the UN International Day of Elimination of Violence against Women) to 10 December (Human Rights Day).
The 16 Days of Action also include other significant dates like World Aids Day (1 December), as well as the White Ribbon Campaign, which calls on men to make a pledge to never commit, condone or remain silent about violence and abuse.

The White Ribbon Campaign
Thousands of people around the world are making a commitment to play their part in standing up to condemn violence against women.
The White Ribbon Campaign recognises the positive role that men play in preventing violence against women, based on the understanding that most men are not violent.
It's a means for men to speak out against violence and abuse and to safely challenge the attitudes and behaviours of a minority of men who use or condone violence against women.
Brighton & Hove is committed to supporting the White Ribbon Campaign.
We're committed to involving men and boys as ambassadors in their local community to engage in:
- awareness raising activities
- addressing and altering social norms leading to violent behaviour against women and girls
- providing services aimed at reducing the incidence towards anyone at risk of interpersonal abuse and violence
You can demonstrate your support for the campaign all year round by pledging never to commit, condone, or remain silent about violence against women and girls in all forms.
You can show your support by wearing a white ribbon.
