A grace period of 21 days is in place for all parking permit holders. This means you can display your parking permit for 21 days after the expiry date printed on it. As long as you've submitted your renewal application and you're parked according to the conditions of your current parking permit, you will not receive a fine.
Anti-social behaviour (ASB) and hate incident case review
What an anti-social behaviour (ASB) and hate incident case review is and how to complete a referral form.
About the Anti-social behaviour (ASB) case review
If you've reported anti-social behaviour or a hate incident, you can ask for a case review. This is where agencies review their response to your report.
Use the ASB case review if you're not satisfied with their response and have reported 3 separate incidents within the past 6 months to:
the police
the council
your housing provider
You can activate a review on behalf of someone else if you have their written consent.
If you meet the threshold for a case review, a review meeting will take place.
The Community Safety Partnership will invite you a meeting. You can tell the agency how you were affected by the incident and what you would like to happen to put things right. An action plan will be agreed and you'll be kept updated on the progress of that plan.
The ASB case review is not a complaints procedure. It is a process that gives you the right to request a review of a reported incident where you're dissatisfied with the response.
Between November 2014 and October 2021 Brighton & Hove residents have:
activated 59 case reviews
4 of these cases were an inappropriate activation of the ASB case review
3 cases met the threshold and a full case review took place. The reviewing officer made recommendations to resolve each case.
52 ASB case reviews did not meet the threshold for full case review. In 34 of these cases, the reviewing officer made recommendations to resolve each case.
New procedure for Brighton & Hove
In November 2021 the Community Safety Partnership team reviewed the ASB case review procedure.
This was in response to:
the Victim Commissioners report 'Anti-Social Behaviour: Living a Nightmare'
updated Home Office Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 practitioners’ guidance
Since November 2021, Brighton & Hove residents have:
activated the ASB case review 57 times
34 occasions did not meet the threshold for a case review
23 cases met the threshold. The reviewing officer made recommendations to resolve each case
What to do if you don't meet the ASB case review criteria
What you can do if you don't want to report your concern now
Talking to a neighbour or someone else in your community about your concerns can help.
You can raise your concern at your Local Action Team, community or resident association meeting. Your neighbourhood police officer, police community support officer or a community safety officer is often at these meetings.
