About the Victoria Road project
As part of the New Homes for Neighbourhoods programme, we have built 42 new council homes on the site of a former Housing Office and Portslade Bowls Club.
In order to release the land for housing the council relocated the Bowls Club to a new clubhouse and all-weather bowling green across the road in Victoria Park.
The development consists of 1, 2 and 3 bedroom flats, with extensive landscaping, including fruit trees, lawn, and other planting. The civic area outside Portslade Town Hall is part of the site and benefits from landscape improvements, including planting, seating, and a public art installation.
The development marks a significant step for the council achieving its sustainability aims. Constructed using a light-gauge steel frame, it has ground source heat pumps for heating and hot water, solar photovoltaic panels, and several green living walls.
The project is delivered by the council’s City Build Partnership with Morgan Sindall Ltd as the main contractor.
