Thirty new council homes were completed on the site of a former housing office at Selsfield Drive in September 2020.
The building, which is constructed to high energy and water efficiency standards, includes solar PV at roof level and integrates a sustainable urban drainage system.
Twelve new homes have been built on the site of 51 empty council garages in Buckley Close, Hangleton.
The scheme was approved at the Housing and New Homes committee in November 2018 and planning permission was granted in April 2019. The Buckley Close homes were completed in May 2020.
In January 2017, Housing and New Homes and Policy, Resources and Growth Committees agreed to lease a small, overgrown former garage site with very long, narrow access to a self-build housing co-operative to build two family homes for rent.
The Co-op’s two 3-bedroom houses were completed in spring 2020.
The 12 new homes on three small cleared sites in Kensington Street in the city centre's North Laine are now complete, with the first residents being welcomed to their new homes in August 2019.
A film capturing the fabulous street art on the sites was made before work began on the new homes.
The development has won the Best Architectural Design in the 2018 South East Construction Awards.
This scheme of 29 council flats, on the previously empty site between Whitehawk Academy and the Wellsbourne Health Centre, was completed in July 2018 and an official opening took place on 19 October 2018.
There are 2 blocks with one, 2 or 3 bedroom flats including flats suitable for wheelchair users and tenants with mobility issues. All flats were advertised and let through Homemove.
This scheme was developed with feedback from local residents who were invited to a drop-in consultation event in February 2016 at the Whitehawk Hub to look at a model and designs.
Using the 'planning for real' model of the area, they commented on the proposed scheme and also gave feedback to Due East Neighbourhood Council about wider Whitehawk issues and opportunities to improve the area.
The hoardings featuring artwork of pupils of City Academy Whitehawk and youth graffiti art also won runner up in the Considerate Constructors national award in July 2017.

The 2 blocks of 57 new council 1, 2 and 3-bedroom flats on the site of the former Whitehawk Library at the junction of Findon and Whitehawk Road were officially opened at a ceremony in May 2018.

Westridge Construction won a Considerate Constructors award for community involvement at this site and the artwork by local children and young people won runner-up prize in a hoardings competition run by the Considerate Constructors Scheme.
The scheme was also shortlisted for 'best affordable housing scheme' (26 to 70 homes) for the Inside Housing Development Awards 2018.
6 new 4-bedroom council houses and 2 2-bedroom flats on the open space opposite Hollingdean Park and playground were completed at the end of June 2018. All homes were advertised and let through Homemove.
An official opening took place in August 2018.
The council rebuilt former temporary accommodation units in the grounds of 2 villas as 2 new 3-bedroom bungalows for wheelchair users with private gardens. Work started in January 2015 and finished at the end of July that year.
Both homes were let through Homemove at affordable rents to households who needed to move to a wheelchair user home.
The Robert Lodge South block of 9 one-bedroom flats on the site of the former Manor Place Housing Office was completed on 7 March 2016.
One is designed for a full-time wheelchair user and the others for residents with other mobility issues. The council let all the flats through Homemove at affordable rents.
The scheme was opened at a ceremony in March 2016.
4 new 3-bedroom family houses were completed on the former Hardwick Road garage site in August 2016, and let through Homemove at affordable rents.
One of the homes is designed for wheelchair users.
2 2-bedroom and 2 3-bedroom family houses on the 2 former garage sites at Flint Close were completed in September 2016.
All the homes were let through Homemove at affordable rents.
Less than 11 months after work started on site, 3 one-bedroom flats, a 2-bedroom maisonette and a 2-bedroom wheelchair user ground floor flat were completed on 14 July 2016.
This small, cleared site had previously been used for car parking. All homes were let at affordable rents through Homemove.
The 6 one and 2-bedroom flats in the Robert North block were completed 11 days ahead of schedule on 5 December 2016 and let at affordable rents through Homemove. The 2 ground floor flats have level access showers and are suitable for tenants with limited mobility.
Working with Robert Lodge Resident Association, a public artwork was produced for the communal garden.
Residents helped to plan new landscaping and trees in the communal garden, and they also have the opportunity to rent stores for mobility scooters and cycles which were installed as part of the new build scheme.
All the homes were let through Homemove at affordable rents.
This scheme developed 45 new council 'extra care' flats.
The Brooke Mead extra care scheme is designed mainly for tenants with low to moderate dementia, to encourage independent living for as long as possible.
The scheme was completed in December 2017 and tenants started moving in from January 2018.
Carers are on site 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, if needed, and the scheme has a communal garden, lounge and social activity rooms.
The homes are let at affordable rents with Adult Social Care involvement in allocations.
Albion Hill Residents Association and local residents were involved in planning for the new community garden next to the site.
