Mile Oak Road
Find out about our plans to build 25 to 30 council homes to rent at affordable rates.
About the Mile Oak Road project
We're planning to build 25 to 30 council homes on the land off Mile Oak Road. This is part of the New Homes for Neighbourhoods programme. We'll rent the homes at affordable rates to households on the local housing register.
What is happening now at Mile Oak Road
Public consultation planning is underway, and we will inform residents about dates shortly.
Mile Oak Road project history
We prepared initial development proposals to provide 31 council homes in early 2021. We told local residents of our plan to build homes and that surveys would take place.
We put early-stage proposals for a low-density development of 2, 3, and 4-bedroom homes, including 3 wheelchair-accessible homes on hold. This allowed time for the consultation on City Downland Estate Plan proposals.
Time plan
July to August 2024 - We will appoint a design team, including a landscape architect and civil and structural engineers.
August to September 2024 - We will have a public consultation to introduce the proposals to local residents and other stakeholders and get feedback on the designs.
September to October 2024 - We will get pre-application advice.
November to December 2024 - We will submit a planning application.
Engagement and consultation
In August 2024, we will send a letter to the local community. It will inform residents of our plan to develop the land. It will also invite them to a public consultation, the date is yet to be set.
