About Brighton General Hospital

Brighton General Hospital on Elm Grove is allocated for a mixed-use redevelopment in City Plan Part 2. The redevelopment will include:

  • a 10,000 to 12,000 square metre health and care facility (Use Class E(e))
  • a minimum of 200 residential units (Use class C3)
  • community facilities

The council is working with the NHS to bring forward a comprehensive redevelopment of the site which will deliver the NHS requirements alongside a residential-led development.

There are no plans for the site at the moment. When a plan is created the council will encourage the developers to undertake public pre-application engagement so that the local community can help to influence the redevelopment of the site.
