What the Hidden Homes project is
The Hidden Homes project is transforming neglected or redundant spaces in council housing stock into good quality, comfortable and sustainable new council homes.
Early projects included converting a redundant commercial kitchen at St James’ House, Kemp Town, into 3 flats and transforming a former store room in a block of flats in Grove Hill, Brighton, into 2 new council homes.
Current and recently completed projects include:
- George Cooper House
- Manor Hill
- Palace Place
- Saxonbury and Highleigh
- Bristol Estate
- The Crescent, Bevendean
This programme is part of a package of different measures to provide more council homes to let to people on the local housing register at social rent levels.
