What is a commitment ceremony
A commitment ceremony is a way for couples to declare their love for each other in front of family and friends.
A commitment ceremony is a celebration and has no legal recognition.
What happens on the day
We'll work with you to create a ceremony that is personal to you.
The ceremony can include the following:
- an introduction and welcome
- readings or poems
- music
- a declaration to each other
- the exchange of rings
- signing of the certificate
- closing words
You're welcome to hold the ceremony at the following:
- Brighton Town Hall
- any approved venue
- a place of special significance (subject to suitability and health and safety checks undertaken by the registrar)
