A liveable city for everyone

Car Free Day is celebrated across the world on or around 22 September. It encourages people to walk, cycle or use public transport, instead of using their car for the day.

The local theme of this year’s Car Free Day is ‘A liveable city for everyone’. It celebrates active and inclusive travel in Brighton & Hove. There are events taking place across the city between 18 and 25 September.

We ask all residents and visitors to think about how they travel to, from and around the city.

A week-long programme of events and offers will take place across the city and there will be something for everyone. From being more active on your journey to becoming more aware of how cycling, walking and using public transport can help reduce your carbon footprint.
