Trading Standards staff check the member companies to make sure they follow the law and treat their customers with respect.
A business can only display the partnership logo if it passes certain checks. These checks include a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, and agreement to the business commitments stated in the terms and conditions.

Limitations of the scheme
The approval of a business does not mean that Trading Standards or Brighton & Hove City Council:
- can guarantee the financial stability of the business
- has checked the quality of any works, goods or services provided
- gives any guarantee or warranty about the value for money of works, goods or services, or that they'll be satisfactory or fit for the purpose
Consumers should make their own assessment of how suitable a business is when choosing a supplier or service provider.
