Licensing Act 2003 - Public Register

The changes made to alcohol and entertainment licensing took effect on 24 November 2005.  After the transitional period, which allowed for currently licensed premises to apply for the new type of licences ready for the start date, all licences now fall under the new regime.  Each week we receive applications open for consultation; these can be found in our Public Register.
The new legislation requires the Licensing Authority to produce a Public Register - a large number of items are specified by the 2003 Act to be on that register. 


Reports currently available

The legal requirement is that each of the categories specified below has a record open to public view; the legislation doesn't specify what the record shall contain but we have tried to include as much relevant information as possible.

  1. a record of each premises licence issued
  2. a record of each club premises certificate issued  
  3. a record of each personal licence issued
  4. a record of each personal licence issued 
  5. a record of each temporary event notice issued
  6. a record of any application for the grant of a premises licence under section 17 of the Act 
  7. a record of any application due to the theft, etc. of a premises licence or summary under section 25 of the Act
  8. a record of any notice given in relation to surrender of a licence under section 28 of the Act
  9. a record of any application for the provisional notice of a premises licence under section 29 of the Act
  10. a record of any notice given regarding change of name, etc. of holders of premises licences under section 33 of the Act
  11. a record of any application for the variation of a premises licence under section 34 of the Act
  12. a record of any application for the variation of a premises licence specifying a designated premises supervisor under section 37 of the Act - report awaited
  13. a record of any notice regarding the removal of a designated premises supervisor from the premises licence under section 41 of the Act
  14. a record of any application for the transfer of a premises licence under section 42 of the Act
  15. a record of any notice regarding interim authority of a premises licence under section 47 of the Act
  16. a record of any application for the review of a premises licence under section 51 of the Act
  17. a record of any application for the grant of a club premises certificate under section 71 of the Act
  18. a record of any application due to the theft, etc. of a club premises certificate or summary under section 79 of the Act
  19. a record of any notice given in relation to surrender of a certificate under section 81 of the Act
  20. a record of any notice given regarding change of name, etc. of holders of club premises certificates under section 82 or 83 of the Act
  21. a record of any application for the variation of a club premises certificate under section 84 of the Act
  22. a record of any notice regarding the withdrawal of temporary event notices under section 103 of the Act
  23. a record of any counter-notice regarding the objection to a temporary event notice under section 106 of the Act
  24. a record of any application due to the theft, etc. of a temporary event notice under section 110 of the Act
  25. a record of any notice given in relation to surrender of a personal licence under section 116 of the Act
  26. a record of any application for the grant or renewal of a personal licence under section 117 of the Act
  27. a record of any application due to the theft, etc. of a personal licence under section 126 of the Act
  28. a record of any notice due to the change of name, etc. of a personal licence holder under section 127 of the Act
  29. a record of any notice given in relation to determinations made by the magistrates' court under section 165(4) of the Act
  30. a record of any application for the conversion of old licences to a premises licence under para.2 schedule 8 of the Act
