Find out how your business property's rateable value can be affected by the government's revaluation.
Business rates revaluation
Revaluation is when the government adjusts the rateable value of business properties due to changes in the property market. The most recent revaluation was on 1 April 2017. The next one is due on 1 April 2023.
At revaluation:
- all business properties have their rateable values reviewed
- multipliers used to work out your bill are revised
A change in your rateable value doesn't always mean a change in your bill.

How much your bill can change from one year to the next depends on:
- your property's new rateable value
- whether your bill is increasing or decreasing after revaluation
