This year’s Pride raises awareness about the oppressive laws in countries that prohibit their LGBTQIA+ citizens from enjoying the fundamental freedoms and rights that many of us take for granted.

The theme ‘We love because they can’t’ aims to shed light on injustices, mobilise support, and advocate for change, ensuring that all individuals, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity, can live freely and authentically.

Pride takes place from Saturday 3 August to Sunday 4 August 2024.

What Pride means to us

Message from Bella Sankey, Council Leader

“Pride is a celebration of our fabulous and treasured LGBTQ+ residents and visitors. It's also a protest and a reminder that we have much more to do to achieve equality for all.

Brighton & Hove is the LGBTQI+ capital of the UK - that’s who we are and who we’re proud to be.

As always, we’re working alongside the Pride organisers, as well as emergency services to plan for a colourful and safe weekend."
