What is a commitment ceremony
A commitment ceremony is a way for couples to declare their love for each other in front of family and friends.
A commitment ceremony is a celebration and has no legal recognition.
What happens on the day
We will work with you to create a ceremony that is personal to you.
This can include the following:
- introduction and welcome
- reading or poems
- music
- declaration to each other
- exchange rings
- signing of certificate
- closing words
You are welcome to hold the ceremony at the following:
- Brighton Town Hall
- an approved venue
- a place of special significance (subject to suitability and health and safety checks undertaken by the registrar)

Fees for ceremonies vary depending on the venue you have chosen.
