What is a commitment ceremony

A commitment ceremony is a way for couples to declare their love for each other in front of family and friends. 

A commitment ceremony is a celebration and has no legal recognition. 

What happens on the day 

We will work with you to create a ceremony that is personal to you.

This can include the following:

•  introduction and welcome
•  reading or poems
•  music
•  declaration to each other
•  exchange rings
•  signing of certificate
•  closing words

You are welcome to hold the ceremony at the following:

•  Brighton Town Hall
•  an approved venue
•  a place of special significance (subject to suitability and health and safety checks undertaken by the registrar)

Fees for ceremonies vary depending on the venue you have chosen.
