Non-dependant deduction rates for Housing Benefit
Find out how much your Housing Benefit may reduce if you have non-dependant people living with you, known as deduction rates.
How rates are set
Deductions are made for non-dependants over the age of 18.
If the non-dependant is working fewer than 16 hours per week, the lowest deduction will apply.
If the non-dependant is working 16 hours per week or more, the deduction will depend on their income as shown in the tables below.
2024 to 2025 deduction rates
The following table shows how rates depend on the age of a non-dependant and the benefits they get.

There is also no deduction for an older person that gets Pension Credit.

The deduction is £19.10 a week if they are not working.
