Help with transport and getting around the city

Free bus passes, disabled parking, borrowing wheelchairs, and how to get around the city if you can't use public transport.

Bus passes

If you’re an older person, or you have a disability you can apply for a free bus pass.

You can also get reduced fares if you’re a Brighton & Hove Carers' Card holder or a Compass Card holder.

Find out what you can use a Compass Card for, and what you can use a Carers Card for.

Blue Badges and disabled parking

If you have a permanent disability that effects your mobility, you can apply for a Blue Badge.

If you have a Blue Badge you can park in:

  • most disabled bays
  • pay and display bays
  • shared use bays

Find out if you can get a Blue Badge on GOV.UK.

You can apply for a Blue Badge on GOV.UK, or complete the Blue Badge application form.

Disabled and carers parking

If you have a Blue Badge, you can apply for a parking bay outside or near your home. You must be the driver or live with the driver, and have no off street parking like a garage or driveway.

To apply for a bay, complete the disabled persons parking bay application form.

Carers can also apply for a parking permit to use in permit bays or shared use bays. Find out how to apply for a carers parking permit.

Transport for people with mobility difficulties

If you have difficulty with your mobility, or you're a wheelchair user, Community Transport can help. They provide safe and affordable transport for people who can’t easily use public transport.

They also run the Easylink shopping bus, and provide transport to lunch clubs and for social trips

Using locked disabled toilets in the city

You'll need a radar key to use locked disabled toilets in Brighton & Hove.

If you have a disability, or you think you need one because of other health reasons, you can apply for a radar key.

Complete the radar key application form (PDF 77KB).

If you find it difficult to walk because of a permanent disability, you could borrow a wheelchair from the NHS
