Nomadic life is not illegal, and travellers have a basic right to this way of life. The council recognises that this has to be balanced with the rights of the general public to enjoy private and public land. The council provides information about the encampments in the area.
The Traveller Liaison Service offers several services including:
A national association committed to the education of Gypsy, Roma and Travellers of Irish Heritage, Fairground, Circus, New and Bargee children and young people, providing a local education support service.
A national charity which exists to prevent male suicide by challenging a culture that prevents men seeking help when they need it.
A national charity who seek to end racism and discrimination against Gypsies, Travellers and Roma, whatever their ethnicity, culture or background, whether settled or mobile, and to protect the right to pursue a nomadic way of life.
A local group for transgender men, trans masculine people, genderqueer people, non-binary people, those assigned intersex and/or female at birth and that fit somewhere else on or off the spectrum or those who are questioning their gender identity. They will provide a social space, support, advice and co-ordinate local campaigns relevant to those we support.
A social group for gay men over 50 which runs outings, quizzes and movie evenings. Also offering advice and practical support.
A national confidential helpline for male victims of domestic abuse and domestic violence. Help is available for all men across the UK suffering from domestic violence or domestic abuse by their current or former wife, husband or partner (including same-sex partner).
A national charity run by and for men with eating disorders including their carers and families. This website provides essential information that is specific to the unique needs of men and provides an online space for those affected to get their voices heard.
A confidential helpline for any man experiencing domestic violence and abuse from a partner (or ex-partner). They are a team of skilled professionals offering practical advice, information and emotional support to male victims of domestic violence, as well as to concerned friends, family and frontline workers.
