Seniors housing (sometimes known as sheltered housing, or warden assisted housing), is a positive choice for older people who want to age well and participate in a sociable community. The council pages have information about how to apply for seniors housing in Brighton & Hove.
Shared Lives is a way to support adults who are unable to live independently. The scheme places the adult with a carer who offers accommodation, care and support in their own home. It is similar to fostering. Shared Lives providers train, support and pay carers to provide support in this way. Support can be provided full time, short breaks, respite or day activities.
Supported living provides housing and support in one package for people with support needs to live independently and learn new skills. The accommodation could be a shared house or individual flats, depending on your needs. The number of people living in supported living scheme also varies. A local floating support service that helps 16- 25 year olds who have become homeless and have been given independent accommodation through the council or through children services. The support offered is person centred and can last up to a year. They work with young people with different backgrounds, needs and circumstances such as young families, care leavers, and young people with little support networks.

A local service providing first aid and primary health care to homeless and vulnerably housed people in Brighton and Hastings. They train both homeless people and those affected by drugs and alcohol in basic first aid skills, and also offer training to frontline workers in first aid treatment for problems associated with homelessness such as drug overdoses.

Supporting older people to be healthier and safer in their own homes. The Health and Wellbeing Visits Project arranges for older people to be visited in their own homes by trained volunteers for a conversation about their health, wellbeing and fire safety in order to help them continue to live independently at home. This is a totally free service and is part of the work that East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service undertake around preventing fire and supporting the community.
