Shared Lives is a way to support adults who are unable to live independently. The scheme places the adult with a carer who offers accommodation, care and support in their own home. It is similar to fostering. Shared Lives providers train, support and pay carers to provide support in this way. Support can be provided full time, short breaks, respite or day activities.

Specialist help is available from the Community Learning Disability Team (CLDT) to enable adults with learning disabilities to live full and healthy lives. The service supports people with a learning disability aged 18 years and older who live permanently in the city or are registered with a GP practice in the city.
We help people with learning disabilities to make choices, have increased opportunities, access mainstream services and take part in the local community.
Brighton Table Tennis Club works with people of all ages, especially young people, to improve health, celebrate diversity and build a strong community. They run sessions for young people of all ages and backgrounds, those aged 50+, adults with learning disabilities, children in care, at over 10 schools, colleges and more.
Care Management Group supports adults with learning disabilities who may also have other complex needs such as autism, mental health needs, challenging behaviour or physical disabilities, to live as independently as possible in the community. Their personalised services include supported living, residential care, day services and outreach in the Brighton area.

A local sexual health service for anyone who identifies as trans or gender variant (partners are welcome too). The clinic runs every three months is free of charge and completely confidential, their staff have been trained in trans awareness.
The Compass Card is a discount card for 0 to 25 year olds with special educational needs or disabilities in Brighton and Hove. The card can be used at lots of leisure venues to gets discounts or special offers.
