A national phone line offering support to callers worried about their own drinking, or that of a friend or family member. They offer advice on where to go for help, and may be able to provide information and self-help materials.

Grassroots Suicide Prevention - Stay Alive app

A suicide prevention pocket resource for the UK. Stay Alive offers help and support both to people with thoughts of suicide, and to people concerned about someone else.

Narcotics Anonymous

A national non-profit fellowship/society of men and women for whom drugs had become a major problem. They are recovering addicts who meet regularly to help each other stay clean. This is a program of complete abstinence from all drugs. There is only ONE requirement for membership, the desire to stop using.

National Domestic Violence Helpline

A national services run in partnership between Women's Aid and Refuge, for women experiencing domestic violence, their family, friends, colleagues and others calling on their behalf. The Helpline can give support, help and information over the telephone, wherever the caller might be in the country. The Helpline is staffed 24 hours a day by fully trained female helpline support workers and volunteers. All calls are completely confidential. Translation facilities for callers whose first language is not English, and a service for callers who are deaf or hard of hearing are available.

SANE

A national charity offering specialist emotional support and information to anyone affected by mental illness, including young people, family, friends and carers. They work to improve quality of life for anyone affected by mental illness.

Sussex Mental Healthline

A local telephone service offering support and information to anyone experiencing mental health problems including stress, anxiety and depression. The service is also available to carers and healthcare professionals. You do not need an appointment. The service offers immediate support for people experiencing distress in a crisis.
