Brighton & Hove City Council - Community learning team

Offering short informal courses and advice for adults who are not currently in work or those who have less than a Level 2 qualification (GCSE or NVQ level 1). Their courses are free and some even lead to qualifications. Courses include: Food Safety, First Aid for Babies & Children and Confidence Building.

Brighton Housing Trust - Archway

A local project aiming to enable people who have a history of being devalued, disempowered or denied opportunities to live as normal a life as possible ? to enjoy the same range of activities and experiences as anyone else and to have opportunities for personal growth and development.

They offer support and training where appropriate, in practical skills such as cooking, cleaning, shopping, managing medication, budgeting and social activities to people with mental health needs and substance misuse issues.

IntoUniversity

IntoUniversity operate 22 learning centres across the UK. Their programme provides children and young people from disadvantaged backgrounds with the help that many children receive as a matter of course.

Before attending the centre for the first time, you will need to register by emailing or calling.

Portslade Learning Centre

Offers a friendly and welcoming environment in which to find out about the courses PACA Adult Learning offers at Chalky Road, Foredown Tower and Boundary Road as well information and advice about other courses around the city.

Every Tuesday (from 14:30 to 16:30) there is a Job Club to support you if you are looking for work and do not have a computer at home. You are welcome to drop in and use our computers to practice your IT skills, check your emails or search for jobs. Please call to check availability before you come in.

Princes Trust

A national organisation that supports 13-30 year olds who are unemployed and those struggling at school and are at risk of exclusion. The TrustÂ's programmes give vulnerable young people the practical and financial support needed to stabilise their lives, helping develop self-esteem and skills for work.
