These mutually rewarding relationships are organised and supported by experienced and skilled befriending organisations who ensure that that the partnerships are effective, safe and structured.

The Facing the Future service has been developed by Samaritans and Cruse Bereavement Care to help support people who have been bereaved by suicide.
Facing the Future support groups will give you the opportunity to meet others who have lost someone to suicide and share your experiences and feelings. Each support group is run by two trained volunteer facilitators from Samaritans and Cruse Bereavement Care and the groups run once a week over six consecutive weeks, with each session lasting for 90 minutes. There are a minimum of five and a maximum of eight participants in each group and sessions are free of charge.

Brighton buddies is a home befriending service for people affected by cancer, managed and governed by Macmillan. They prioritise particularly socially isolated people (e.g. living alone, family live away) and offer a visit once a week from a trained volunteer for approximately 12 visits, a listening ear service, practical and emotional support.
Part of Impetus, this local good neighbour befriending scheme supports older people, people with physical disabilities and carers by recruiting local volunteers to support them in a variety of ways. The scheme operates in various neighbourhoods within Brighton & Hove, embracing over half of the city's population.

Switchboard's Older People's Project is for LGBTQ people aged 50+ looking for a sense of community, support or information.
The project runs a number of regular social activities, meet ups and trips. The Older People's Project also provide information and host workshops about services for older people and make connections for people within the community and to other services.
