A specialist national organisation that works to protect and prevent the abuse of vulnerable older adults. They address abuse within peopleÂ's own homes (whether by family, friends or paid staff), within sheltered housing, and within care homes and hospitals.
Hourglass is the UK’s only charity focused on the abuse and neglect of older people, we staff a free-to-call helpline. It’s an absolute lifeline for older men, women and their families suffering from the five forms of abuse: physical, psychological, financial, sexual or neglect.
As well as our National Helpline, which is available 24/7 at 080 8808 8141, we also offer:

- specialist volunteering and befriending scheme

We will be welcoming a new team of Community Responsive Officers to Sussex and its adjoining boroughs. They will lead the way in implementing Hourglass’s aims for England in Sussex by providing tailored and specialist support to older victims of abuse and neglect. They will play a key role in meeting the needs of the vulnerable older population across, East and West Sussex, Brighton and Hove.
Our IDVAs Intend to collaborate with other charities, organisations & authorities. In a bid to tackle domestic abuse in Sussex. The model in Sussex will foreground specialist domestic abuse support for older victims
Our confidential services provide information and support to an older person or anyone concerned about an older person who is at risk of, experiencing or recovering from any form of abuse or neglect
