The council is the data controller for purposes of the Data Protection Act (2018), and EU General Data Protection Regulation as of May 2018. It is also registered as a data controller with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).

We are collecting your data for the purpose of processing your application to have a lodger your property. Your contact details may be used for communication purposes. We may also use your data to update existing records, in the interest of data accuracy.
We have a legal obligation to process your personal data, specifically working within the Housing Act 1985.
Who we will share your data with
Your data may be shared internally with Revenues & Benefits team and Homemove. We may also share your information externally with the Department for Work and Pensions.
How long we will hold your data (retention)
We will hold your data for length of your tenancy plus 6 years.
Transferring data outside the European Economic Area
Your information is not processed outside the European Economic Area.

Under General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have certain rights concerning your information.
We aim to resolve all complaints about how we handle personal information. You also have the right to make a complaint about data protection to the Information Commissioner's Office.
