NSL: For the purposes of maintaining and operating the parking permit system. For the purposes of enforcing parking restrictions or bailiff action, where we have an outstanding Penalty Charge Notice issue with you.
Council internal
Other council departments for the purpose of investigations, including investigations into crime prevention, detection, prosecution and as well as the prevention, detection and prosecution of fraud. For more information please go to the anti-fraud and corruption webpage
Council external
Under investigatory powers legislation, we might have to share personal information about you to government and law-enforcement agencies, such as the police, to help detect and stop crime, prosecute offenders, etc. where the council is required by law to provide the information as a subject of an official request made to the council under the data protection legislation.
To make sure that it delivers its functions as efficiently as possible, this council may share your information with one of its local authority partners, namely Surrey County Council, East Sussex County Council, etc with whom it operates a shared service arrangement.
The council may also share this information with law enforcement agencies and other bodies responsible for auditing or administering public funds for these purposes.
We will hold your data for such a period as the council determines necessary so as not to prejudice the ability of the council to instigate legal proceedings in respect of fraud or crime.
We may, in cases where it is necessary, obtain data from credit reference agencies for the purpose of verifying that you live at the address you’ve provided to us, and that it is your main residence: this is to ensure that only eligible applicants take up parking spaces in the city.
