The data controller for your data
Brighton & Hove City Council is the data controller for purposes of the Data Protection Act (2018) and The General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 ("GDPR") and is registered as a data controller with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) under registration number Z5840053.
Why we’re collecting your data
The council’s Local Employment Scheme collects data from individuals, and third parties, for example, developers, contractors and training organisations, for the following purposes:
- monitoring the employment and training strategy of a site
- arrangement, coordination and reporting of training and events
- assessing an individual’s eligibility for scheme funding
- monitoring equal opportunities data
What is the legal basis for collecting your data?
The scheme will process personal data under one of the following GDPR legal basis:
- public task: Article 6(1)(e) - processing is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or the exercise of official authority vested in the controller
Data we may collect and where we get it from
In the course of providing employment and training opportunities, we may collect the following personal information:
- name
- date of birth
- contact details (address, email, phone number)
- occupation and employment status
- qualifications
- proof of identity and residence
Who we’ll share your data with
We will not share your personal information with third parties, except where required by law or necessary to fulfil our contractual obligations.
We will share personal information with law enforcement or other authorities if required to do so by law.
How long we will keep the data
We will keep your data in accordance with Brighton & Hove City Council’s Retention Schedule.
How your data will be stored
Your data will be stored within the council’s secure network, accessible only by Brighton & Hove City Council staff working as administrators of the Local Employment Scheme for Construction.
Will your data be transferred abroad?
No.
Your data rights
You have a right to a copy of the data held about you, the purposes for it, where it came from and with whom it is shared. This right may be restricted by exemptions in the Data Protection Act 2018 in some circumstances.
You have a right to request that inaccurate data be corrected.
Where data is processed under the lawful basis of public interest, you have a right to object to processing and require the council to consider whether the public interest overrides any impact on your personal privacy.
